—– The road to Momonga 1.1 —–

This is the first major content update of Momonga since the original launch. That was six months ago. Six months! All that time, the bonus levels have been staring you in the face behind their “Coming Soon” masks. I know it has been a long time. With two brand new bonus levels, I hope it has been worth your wait.

When we were working on the initial release of Momonga, we had the plans for the bonus levels ready to go. We wanted to do a level with the flying mechanic (Panda’s Dream), a level with the pinball mechanic (the new Arena) and a tribute to the Asian variant of pinball, called “pachinko” (Guachinko). But the bonus levels needed to be great little mini games by themselves, so we spent a lot of time making sure that they work well. Combine this with our “regular” projects (read: projects that pay the bills), and you are well on your way to six months of development time.

Guachinko is a minigame where you play Pachinko in the style of the Guaka level. Guaka is throwing a party – you can see Panda and Momo in the upper parts of the level, cheering you on. The traditional Pachinko mechanics don’t allow much interaction with the ball, so we kept it to a minimum. You can influence the ball direction by moving the center flippers – but in the end, it will fall down into one of the scoring buckets. It’s a lot of fun trying to manouver the ball into the right lanes.

The Arena is a great way to test your skills. The minigame consists of dozens of unique “rounds”, all set in a single environment. When you complete the round’s objectives, you are rewarded with a big star. The score count can get really high in these things – especially in the bonus rounds. And if you are really hardcore, you can try to finish all the rounds in Arena. If you manage to do this, send us a mail – we’d love to see it 😉

With all this, I hope that we have made it worth your wait. And if you have any feedback, drop us a line at support@paladinstudios.com and we’ll take care of it.

Thanks, and have fun!
